Fog City Rollers | Saint John, New Brunswick

Teams: Shipyard Sirens, Portside Pirates

The Fog City Rollers are an all-female flat track league based out of Saint John, New Brunswick.
The league was founded in February 2010 by Darla Derringer and Suzie Skinher, two ladies with a dream they couldn’t ignore. They held two Meet & Greets within two months and over 40 women attended the first practice in April of 2010, thus proving the need for a Saint John Roller Derby team!
League management is made up of skaters who have been democratically elected by the league, we believe in the need for our organization to be female run with a DIY ethic.
The mission of the Fog City Rollers is to empower the women of Saint John New Brunswick and provide them with a healthy outlet for female competitiveness through the sport of flat track roller derby.
We strive to be a do it yourself organization, run by the skaters, for the skaters and to provide assistance with some of the city’s most fundamental causes and concerns through our community service work.

Newfoundland and Labrador

709 Derby Girls | St. John's, Newfoundland

Teams: The Neversweets, The Vixens

709 Roller Derby is Newfoundland and Labrador’s first roller derby league. While the players are all female, the referees, volunteers, and committee members are co-ed. 709 Roller Derby is a not-for-profit organization that offers a new and exciting sport to the St. John’s area. We strive to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
The league was established by two home-grown gals (Cemeterri Jane and Myk Tytan) who had an itch that needed to be scratched. Nothing that was already up and running could do the trick. They were looking for something that had just the right combination of athleticism and attitude. These go-getters decided they would call out to the other ladies of St. John’s and hope for a response. Quite a response was received! In December 2009 the league was established.
With some additional, hard behind the scenes work, and a great deal organization, January 13, 2010 was the first official practice for 709 Roller Derby.
