Event FAQ
We get a lot of questions about our pop-up roller disco events. Here we have tried to answer the most common ones. Please note that this information is focused on our Halifax events. Please take a look at individual event details for events hosted by other parties.
What is the cost to attend?
Admission to our events are $12 + taxes and fees, per person. There is an additional cost to rent skates if required. Please note that we usually host a dedicated family time where youth 16 and under get in for free.
How can I get a ticket to your events?
Tickets are available to purchase in store and online via our Brown Paper Tickets page. You can also purchase a ticket at the door the night of the event. Please note that online ticket sales are non-refundable. If you have purchased an advanced ticket and would like to request a change in date please contact us prior to the event and we will do all we can to accommodate your request.
What if I just want to watch?
Spectators are welcome to attend and would be required to pay the admission cost for the event.
Can I bring my own skates?
Yes of course! Both roller skates are roller blades are welcome at our events.
Do you have skates for rent?
Yes! We have about 120 pairs of roller skates in a full range from kids size 0 to adult size 13. Skate rentals are $10 taxes included. We do not currently offer roller blades (in lines). Please note that we require a piece of photo ID as deposit for skate rentals. Multiple skates can be held under the same piece of ID. The ID will be returned once all skates have been returned.
How does your skate sizing work?
Our skates come in men's standard sizes, full sizes only. We recommend going down two sizes from a ladies' shoe size (ex. a size 7 ladies shoe normallu fits a size 5 skate)
Can I reserve my skates ahead of time?
Our rental process is first come first served and we do not reserve equipment ahead of the event. We have found this to be the fairest process in regards to getting rental equipment for our events.
What happens if you do not have my size?
We have extra skates in the popular sizes to minimize running out. In the case that we do not have your size we operate on a waitlist. In the past our waitlists have been about 5-20 minutes to recieve equipment. You are not charged for rentals until you recieve your skates.
Do you provide protective equipment?
No at this time we do not provide any protective equipment. It is strongly recommended that you bring your own.
Do I have to wear a helmet?
Helmets are required for all youth participants (aged 16 and under). Helmets are not required for adults but are strongly recommended.
Can children come?
Yes of course! Our events are all family friendly and for events hosted by Coffin Skate Shop we usually have a dedicated family skate time. Please refer to event info pages for events not hosted by Coffin Skate Shop.
Do you have lockers?
For events hosted at the Mayflower Curling Club there are no lockers on site. We recommend only bringing in items that you need for the event.
Do you have a bar/food
The Mayflower Curling Club has a fully licensed bar at the venue. There is also typically a food vendor on site in the upstairs lounge.
Can we bring our own refreshments and food into the venue?
Yes but please note that food or drink is not allowed on the skating surface.
Is this event suitable for beginners/those who cannot skate?
Absolutely! Roller skating is for everyone. We have a skate team available to help you with your first few laps. We also offer private skating lessons if you would like to gain some confidence before the event.
What kind of music do you play?
We play a wide range of music that spans over several decades. It is not exclusively roller disco music, though we do make sure to include the classic hits! Our main goal is to play songs that make you want to get up and move!
Do you do private events?
